June 2010 - Special Olympic Ireland Games
The team representing Special Olympics Ulster at the Ireland Games has been selected and 5 Racer athletes have made the team and will compete in Limerick next year! Congratulations to Niall, Trey, Craig, Steven and Carter! The boys will be competing for a place at the World Games to be held in Athens in 2011.
4-5 July 2009 - National Disability Championships in Blackpool
Newtownabbey Racers athlete James Hamilton was in excellent form at the weekend, representing Northern Ireland in the DSE National Disability Athletics Championships in Blackpool. James won the 800m and set a new national record for his classification with a time of 2.06.2 mins! James also won gold over 1500m!
Congratulations to Conor McShane and Matthew Smyth who were also representing Northern Ireland. Conor won a silver medal in 400m after a strong performance in a very competitve field and Matthew won a gold medal in his 400m classification!
12-14 June 2009 - Special Olympics Ulster Games
Five Newtownabbey Racers athletes took part in the Games at Letterkenny with fantastic performances from all athletes leading to a medal haul!!
- Trey took gold in both the Long jump and 100m in his best time this season
- Carter took home two golds in Tennis Ball Throw and 50m with two excellent performances
- Niall won a silver in Shot and gold in 100m showing that he is in excellent form this season
- Steven won a bronze in Long Jump and pipped the silver medal in a fierce 100m battle
- Craig won gold in Tennis Ball Throw and just missed the medals over 50m in a spectacular 50m final
